Ann Arbor Veg Week is brought to you by VegMichigan, the state’s largest vegetarian organization promoting awareness of the health, environmental, and ethical benefits of a plant-based diet. Join today!

US Veg Week is a campaign of Compassion Over Killing (COK), which launched the first Veg Week in 2009 in Takoma Park, MD, thanks to the inspiration of Maryland Senator Jamie Raskin. Senator Raskin eagerly signed up as the first person to take the 7-day Veg Pledge—a pledge he’s kept to this day—and Veg Week was officially recognized by Takoma Park, MD through a Mayoral Proclamation.

Energized by his new vegetarian diet, which he refers to as “aligning my morals with my menu,” Senator Raskin has since helped COK expand its Veg Week campaign, first to the entire state of Maryland in 2010, then to Virginia, Washington, DC, and California in 2011—and now nationwide!

Compassion Over Killing has been working to end animal abuse since 1995 by exposing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world.
